Library as a Learning Resource
The Library of Govt. College Alewa serves as a vital learning resource, providing access to a rich and diverse collection of knowledge, information, and ideas. It acts as the central hub for academic and intellectual exploration, supporting the learning and research needs of students, faculty, and the broader community. With its extensive holdings of books, journals, databases, and digital resources, the library enables users to explore subjects in-depth and remain updated with the latest developments in various disciplines.
To foster an environment conducive to learning, the library offers quiet study areas, collaborative workspaces, and technology-enabled learning facilities, creating the right balance between individual study and group activities.
he library is automated using the Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) – SOUL 3.0, an advanced software developed by INFLIBNET to meet the requirements of college and university libraries. This user-friendly client-server based software has been implemented for cataloguing and record management. Books have already been entered in SOUL, and the issue-return process is proposed to be initiated shortly, subject to the appointment of adequate library staff. This has been placed on priority for the forthcoming academic session.
In addition, the institution has a subscription to ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) – a national initiative aimed at providing unified access to academic resources and subscriptions across the country. This facilitates collaboration and knowledge sharing among institutions.
The college library also provides access to a wide range of e-resources, e-journals, and e-books through the National Digital Library of India (NDLI). The NDLI subscription adds immense value by offering a vast collection of digital content to support academic pursuits, research, and self-learning.
